The second annual Eden in the Evening was held last week at Eden Career Technical Center in Ashville.

It was a time where students who attend ECTC could come and bring their parents to what was like an open house.

New director Ronnie McFarling said they wanted to have the opportunity for all the parents to come and visit the school.

“We’re in a unique situation in that all our students attend other schools throughout the system and Pell City,” McFarling said. “It’s very difficult for parents to get up here. It’s 26 miles from here to Moody and 20 miles from here to Pell City. So this is one time a year to get up here and set up for this. It’s a way to let them see what their children are doing up here. It’s just our open house. We tried to provide some entertainment and basically show off our campus and programs. Both from the recruiting standpoint and just from the parental standpoint.”

St. Clair Schools Superintendent Jenny Seals said this is a great way to showcase the career tech center.

“This month is Parenting Month,” Seals said. “It’s a great way for parents to come through and see what their children are doing.”
