The Lord is my God; I will exalt Him; I will praise His name for all the wonderful things He has done.

— Isaiah 25:1

On Sunday, Sept. 12, First Baptist Church in Springville held the fifth Evangelistic Block Party in the open field near the 4-way stop at the intersection of Ala. 174 and U.S. 11.

There was much preparation to be done: mailing 5,328 fliers, shopping for gifts, rehearsals for performing teams, set-up, registration, parking, sound, cooking and serving, counseling and, the day before the EBP, distributing 746 bags to area homes.

Inflatables were provided for children and antique cars were displayed prior to the program. Drama, music and puppets were shared with the 350 in attendance, which included the Youth and Children’s Choirs.

Lunch was provided during the EBP and gifts were given away at the close.

God moved and 15 people responded during the times of invitation.

The Block Party began in 2001, and FBC Springville has conducted them in 2002 and 2006, as well. The church has also held 10 others on mission trips to Blaine, Ky., since 2001 and will be doing more in Michigan next year.
