I received a flier in the mail from The Committee To Protect Alabama Jobs and also a phone call on the same subject.
The flier states that “Del Marsh says: Welcome, Illegal immigrants.” It further states, “Marsh pledges to make sure that big business is not ‘penalized or burdened’ if they hire illegal immigrants.”
This is obviously a smear campaign against Sen. Del Marsh, and voters should recognize it for what it is.
I called Sen. Marsh, and he refuted the entirety of the information contained in the flier. He further stated that he introduced SB175 in the Senate to require businesses or public employers to verify the legal status of new employees through the federal E-Verify system. The bill further states that businesses caught hiring illegal immigrants will lose their business licenses. I have verified this through Alison.
I don’t know who is responsible for this smear campaign against Sen. Marsh, other than Richard Williams, chairman of the Committee To Protect Alabama Jobs, which is obviously a Democratic action committee.
Up to this point I felt like the contest for senator from District 12 was being run with integrity, but this flier and the phone calls tell me otherwise.
