Beginning around 7 p.m. Friday, the outside lane of I-20 eastbound between mile markers 152 and 153 will be closed to rehabilitate the shoulder of the road. The lane will reopen around 6 a.m. Monday.
Motorists should expect lane shifts, slower traffic and minor delays.
A reduced speed limit of 45 mph is in effect throughout the work zone. Motorists may want to consider using alternate routes and adjusting arrival/departure times. Motorists should observe work-zone speed limits and other work-zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. State troopers will control traffic and strictly enforce speed limits.
This work is part of the ALDOT’s Progress 20 project to widen the last four-lane segment of I-20 in St. Clair County. The scheduled completion date on the project is Oct. 1, 2012.
