The children’s clothes came from the congregation, as well as from around the community. According to church secretary Cindy Roper, they are mostly for children through middle-school age.
“It’s something we just started,” she said. “We decided, instead of donating to Goodwill or anything like that, we’d just help the community directly.”
The drive begins Saturday at 1 p.m., and Roper said everyone is welcome. The clothes will go to those who attend, on a first-come, first-serve basis.
“We’ve had lost-and-found donations that have come from local schools (in addition to our own congregation),” she said. “We’re hoping the response is good. We’ve had a lot of people who have been helping.
“We hope it’s something the community can use and we can make it into an annual event.”
