Renaming the library at Springville Elementary School for Frank and Lillian Buckner pays tribute to the couple’s support and contributions to Springville schools through the years. That the honor coincided with their 52nd wedding anniversary was a special surprise.

Both the Buckners attended Springville schools through all 12 grades, and so did their four children. Their support of the local schools is widely known, to the point that when the library — the same library now named for them — needed new carpet after 13 years, the principal turned to the Buckners rather than the proration-strapped school board. And, of course, the Buckners came through with an $8,000 donation.

“We believe in the public education system and we support it,” said Frank Buckner. “But we also demand a certain level of education along with that.”

Congratulations to the Buckners for your namesake library, and thank you for helping Springville’s schools all these years.
