The Alabama Department of Transportation announced lane closures for tonight as part of its ongoing project to widen Interstate 20 between Pell City and Moody.

Per a release, ALDOT said the eastbound lane near mile marker 151 will be closed for blasting Beginning around 7 p.m. today. A rolling roadblock by Alabama state troopers will slow I-20 traffic in both directions until blasting is complete, which will cause slower traffic and minor delays.

This work is part of the ALDOT’s Progress 20 project to widen the last four-lane segment of I-20 in St. Clair County. The scheduled completion date on the project is by Oct. 1, 2012. A reduced speed limit of 45 mph is in effect throughout the work zone.
