In a release Thursday afternoon, the Alabama Department of Transportation announced the rescheduling. Around 7 p.m., Tuesday, the lane will be closed for blasting. A rolling roadblock by Alabama state troopers will slow I-20 traffic in both directions until blasting is complete.
A reduced speed limit of 45 mph is in effect throughout the work zone.
“Motorists may want to consider using alternative routes and adjusting arrival/departure times,” the release reads in part. “Motorists should observe work-zone speed limits and other work-zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. State troopers will control traffic and strictly enforce speed limits.”
