Beginning around 7 p.m. Monday, the eastbound lane of Interstate 20 near mile marker 148 close to the Brompton exit will be closed for blasting as the Alabama Department of Transportation’s continues work to widen the last four-lane segment of the roadway in St. Clair County.

A rolling roadblock by Alabama state troopers will slow I-20 traffic in both directions until the blasting is complete. Motorists should expect slower traffic and minor delays.

A reduced speed limit of 45 miles per hour is in effect throughout the work zone. Motorists may want to consider using alternative routes and adjusting arrival/departure times.

Motorists should observe work-zone speed limits and other work-zone signs and should use extreme caution in this area. State troopers will control traffic and strictly enforce speed limits.
