St. Clair County Deputy Coroner Jeremiah Gilreath identified the victim as Heather Treptau, 20, of Pell City.
The victim was pronounced dead at her Miller Drive residence at 8:20 a.m., Tuesday.
The official cause of the woman’s death was not determined as of Tuesday afternoon.
Gilreath said the actual cause of death may not be available until Friday.
St. Clair County Sheriff Department Captain Billy Murray said the woman was discovered by a family member early Tuesday morning.
Murray said the victim was last seen alive about 11:30 Monday night, and the investigation into her death continues.
