Lady Saint head coach Matt Hicks said it has been a good season and the girls played well in the area tournament.
“They were selfless,” Hicks said. “They know their role and accept it. Starters played great and I am proud of them, but there is a reason why they start. I played about 10 girls off the bench, and every one of them did the job they were asked to do. We played like a team. We deserved this because we earned it.”
Hicks said he does not believe in taking things a game at a time.
“We take them a pitch at a time,” he said. “As we prepare for the regional tournament, we have to focus on every pitch, whether we are in the box or on the field. We have never been here. It is the next step in building this program into one that rivals the others in our county and ultimately the state. We are playing with house money. We have had a great year.”
SCCHS plays at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Liberty Park. Their opponent is Cleburne County.
