Springville 5, Pleasant Grove 4
The Lady Tigers improved to 22-11 on the season, edging Pleasant Grove last week 5-4.
Springville led 4-0 after two innings of play and then had to score the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning to win the game.
Savanna Hennings picked up the win and improved to 18-6 on the season. She worked five and one-third innings of two-hit ball. She struck out eight.
McKinley Tribble came on in relief and worked one and two-thirds innings giving up four runs (three earned) on four hits. She walked one and struck out two. Taylor and Tanner Earley both led the Lady Tigers at the plate with 2 hits each. Morgan Griggs and Ashley Wise had run-scoring singles.
Springville 6, SCCHS 0
Springville scored in every inning but the second as they defeated the St. Clair County Lady Saints 6-0.
The Lady Tigers wasted little time in getting on the scoreboard as Taylor Earley singled, went to second on an error and scored on a single by her sister Tanner.
The Earley sisters were involved in a double play in the bottom of the second inning as Taylor fielded a ground ball at second, flipped the ball to Tanner, who threw on to first baseman Alex Bailey to complete the double play.
Three consecutive doubles by Sydne Waldrop, Taylor Earley and Griggs led to two more Springville runs in the third inning to make it 3-0.
In the top of the fourth inning, pitcher McKinley Tribble walked. Pinch-runner Chelsea Jones later scored on a single by Rianna Wilson. Waldrop followed with a single and Wilson scored on an error on the play to make it 5-0.
The final run of the game came in the fifth inning when Kolyn Kyser had an inside-the-park-home run when her drive to the opposite field rolled past the right fielder all the way to the fence.
Tribble picked up the win to even her record at 5-5. She tossed a 4-hit shutout and struck out 10.
Springville 9, Leeds 1
The Lady Tigers scored threeruns in the first inning on a three-run home run by Kyser and they went on to beat Leeds 9-1. Springville added six more runs in the sixth inning. Katelyn Moore and Hennings drove in two runs each while Jones had a RBI double and Taylor Earley had a RBI single.
Hennings picked up the win and improved to 19-6 on the season. She gave up one run on five hits in six innings of work and struck out 10.
Springville 15, Ashville 4
Springville scored nine runs in the first inning and went on to beat Ashville 15-4 in four innings. They finished the tournament at St. Clair a perfect 3-0.
Tribble picked up the win and is now 6-5. She gave up fourruns, two earned, on six hits and struck out two.
Taylor Earley, Kyser, Waldrop, Jones and Griggs drove in two runs each as Springville had 13 hits and took advantage of five Ashville errors.
Ashville scored single runs in the first and second innings and two more runs in the third.
Mortimer Jordan 2, Springville 1
In a match-up of two Top 10 teams Monday, top-ranked Mortimer Jordan edged fifth-ranked Springville 2-1.
Mortimer Jordan scored in the second inning and held a 1-0 lead up through the top of the seventh inning before adding an insurance run to make it 2-0.
Springville scored its lone run in the bottom of the seventh inning as they loaded the bases and Waldrop drew a bases-loaded walk that scored Ashley Wise. That would be as close as the Lady Tigers would get and they lost the game 2-1.
Hennings tossed a complete game and struck out 12 but fell to 19-7 on the season.
Springville is now 25-12 overall.
