The Alabama Department of Transportation announced Tuesday more blasting continues on Interstate 20 as part of its project to widen the last four-lane segment of the roadway in St. Clair County between Pell City and Moody.

Weather permitting, blasting will occur between 7 and 9:30 p.m. today on the east-bound lane around mile marker 148 (close to the Brompton Exit 147), according to a release from ALDOT.

“A rolling roadblock by Alabama state troopers will slow I-20 traffic in both directions,” the release reads in part. “Motorists should expect slower traffic and minor delays.”

The work is part of the ALDOT’s ‘Progress 20’ project to widen the last four-lane segment of I-20 in St. Clair County, between the Brompton and Eden exits along the Interstate. The scheduled completion date on the project is by Oct. 1, 2012.

A reduced speed limit of 45 mph is in effect throughout the work zone.
