Are you proud of your name? Your parents gave you your name and took pride in your birth.

There will soon be a new birth in Margaret, Ala. The town of Margaret also takes pride in this coming event that they are responsible for. Specifically, the people of Margaret planned, worked hard, purchased the land and then donated the land in eager anticipation of our new school.

It was the people of Margaret, not Argo, who spent their money to give this new school to all our children — the children of Margaret and surrounding areas. It is the town of Margaret that still has a street named School Street even though their school burned over 40 years ago.

So, the name of our new school should be Margaret Elementary School, for the same reason that those who planned for and anticipated your birth gave you your birth name. No other group of people, no town, has worked as hard nor has given so much as the people of the town of Margaret.
