Blasting continues on Interstate 20 as part of the Alabama Department of Transportation’s project to widen the last four-lane segment of the roadway in St. Clair County, according to a release from the Department of Transportation.

Weather permitting, blasting will occur around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, on the east-bound lane around mile marker 153 (close to the Cooks Springs Exit 152). On Thursday, March 18, around 7:30 p.m., blasting is also scheduled on the east-bound lane around mile marker 148.

For both of these occurrences, a rolling road block by Alabama state troopers will slow I-20 traffic in both directions. Motorists should expect slower traffic and minor delays.

A reduced speed limit of 45 mph is in effect throughout the work zone. Motorists may want to consider using alternative routes and adjusting arrival/departure times. Motorists should observe work-zone speed limits and other work-zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. State troopers will control traffic and strictly enforce speed limits.
