Alabama Power Company announced Friday the Logan Martin Lake level will rise above its normal summer pool.

The company announced the change in a press release Friday.

According to the press release, APC officials expect Logan Martin Lake to crest sometime Sunday or Monday at about 467 feet, two feet higher than the normal summer pool level of 465 feet.

“Because of this week’s abnormally heavy rains, Alabama Power is operating spillway gates at Henry, Logan Martin, Lay, Mitchell and Jordan dams on the Coosa River to help manage flows and rising lake levels,” the press release states.

By Friday, the Logan Martin Lake level had already reached the summer pool level or 465 feet above sea level..

The press release also states APC planned to open spillway gates Friday at Martin Dam on the Tallapoosa River.

“Alabama Power will continue to closely monitor conditions and manage resources on the lakes carefully,” the press release states. “Individuals with boats and other water related equipment and facilities should always be alert to changing conditions on Alabama Power reservoirs and be prepared to take the necessary steps to protect their property.”
