When a devastating and deadly earthquake struck Haiti two weeks ago, students at Odenville Middle School sprang into action. Seeing the needs in the aftermath, the Student Government Association met the next day and launched a campaign to raise money in Hope for Haiti.

They have been collecting money, holding fundraisers like bagging groceries for tips at the local Piggly Wiggly store, and the results of their labor will be sent to Red Cross to provide water, food and medical supplies.

We are impressed by the students’ reaction to this disaster but more inspired by their action in extending their own helping hand.

It is a lesson in compassion and giving, and these students have apparently learned it well.
