The Ragland Lady Purple Devils won the Class 1A, Area 11 Tournament title Saturday beating Jacksonville Christian 62-51 in the championship game. They defeated Victory Christian 72-39 in the opening round.

With the two wins, Ragland, 18-11, will host Holy Family in the sub-regionals tonight. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Ragland 72, Victory Christian 39

After a close first quarter, Ragland outscored the Lady Lions 23-5 in the second quarter and went on to defeat Victory Christian 72-39.

By halftime, Ragland’s lead was 35-14. Headed into the final quarter, the score was 52-27.

Four Ragland players scored in double figures and leading the way was JJ Looney with 24 points. Emily Church netted 18 points while Brooke Evans added 11 points. Paige Gann finished with 10 points. Kailey Echols totaled 8 points while Reagan Campbell had 1 point.

Ragland 62, JCA 51

From beginning to end, Ragland led JCA and went on to beat the Thunder 62-51.

Ragland led 22-14 after the first quarter and increased its lead to 37-20 by halftime. They were up 53-37 after three quarters of play.

Leading Ragland was Gann with 23 points. Church netted 16 points while Looney pumped in 10 points. Campbell scored 8 points while Echols totaled 6 points.
