Ashville had no problem beating Leeds 79-21 and then eased past Locust Fork 57-54 to go to a perfect 10-0 on the year.
Ashville 79, Leeds 21
Ashville took a 27-2 lead after the first quarter and did not look back as they defeated Leeds 79-21. By halftime the score was 50-9 and then 64-16 after three quarters of play.
Ten Ashville players scored and leading the way was Jacie Tipton with 24 points. Taylor Coffee and Bianca Bothwell scored 10 points each and Bothwell added 11 rebounds. Stormy Penland totaled 8 points while Destiny Montgomery chipped in 7 points. Kim Fuller netted 6 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while Jenny Howard, Ebonie Brooks, and Lori Stephenson all scored 4 points each. Kristen O’Barr had 2 points.
The win gave Ashville a record of 9-0.
Ashville 57, Locust Fork 54
In a much closer game, the Lady Bulldogs kept their undefeated streak alive with a 57-54 victory over Locust Fork.
Ashville led 17-7 after the first period and was still on top 29-23 at intermission. The Lady Bulldogs won the scoring battle in the third quarter 16-7 to open up a 45-30 lead.
Locust Fork fought back in the fourth quarter outscoring Ashville 24-12 but the Lady Bulldogs held on to the 57-54 win.
Tipton again led Ashville with 18 points. Fuller added 8 points while Bothwell, Brooks and O’Barr scored 6 points each. Montgomery and Stephenson totaled 5 points each while Penland had 2 points. Howard finished the game with 1 point.
Ashville coach Dale Beason is pleased with the performance of his team and glad his team is still undefeated at this point in the season.
“The girls are playing good and every girl we have is contributing,” Beason said.
