“This message is for AJ. This is Judge Judy AJ, and I want to wish you a very, very Merry Christmas.”

And with those words spoken by Judge Judy Sheindlin, she made one Springville Middle School fifth-grade student very happy.

AJ Grimes, 11, is in a small-group setting for special needs students at SMS. He is the son of Matt and Tonya Grimes.

“Judge Judy is his favorite television show and the only thing he watches on TV,” said his teacher Merrie Golden. “So, I emailed Judge Judy to see if she would send AJ something — an autographed picture at best — I never thought she would actually send him a personalized message from the bench on a DVD. When his mother found out, she told me I had made her son’s year.”

Golden said if she or others in the classroom quote Judge Judy, AJ has a smile from ear to ear and laughs so much.

“We knew this would matter to AJ,” said Golden.
