In a time when the economy is sluggish, and business news is rarely good, it is encouraging to see a St. Clair County company actually expanding.

Benjamin Moore and Co. has announced a $2.5 million expansion that will add 40 new jobs. The expansion will mean an increase in production capacity as well as warehouse and storage space.

It also includes a regional research and development laboratory for the paint manufacturer.

It is not the first time Benjamin Moore has invested in its Pell City presence. It began in 1986 with only 20 employees. Today, the southeast headquarters is located there, and the employment roster stands at an impressive 140.

We welcome the news from Benjamin Moore. It should signal better economic times ahead.
