The featured cartoon in the Times’ Aug. 2 editorial page is a word in due season, and carries an ominous message. Those who know their Bible understand that message.
My concern, however, is for your readers, who may not be familiar with Jesus’ solemn warning and about how it was in the days of Noah: “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage (i.e., going about their daily lives), up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away” (Matthew 24:37-39, NIV).
To find out how it was in the days of Noah, we go to the book of Genesis: “Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence” (6:11).
Today, the earth is full of violence and is ripe for God’s judgment. If there were ever a time for people to repent and seek Him, that time is now.
