The Gospel Explosion Fun Festival was put on Saturday by the Tribe of Joseph. Church member Larry Bothwell and the tribe committee came up with having the outside gospel festival for a fundraiser.
“It has sort of a picnic flavor to it for the kids,” Bothwell said. “We had a great turnout.”
There were activities and games to play, moonwalks for the kids, plenty of food, items to purchase like at a yard sale and a lot of good music.
Providing music included Ashville native Kevin Moore playing his saxophone, the Carrell Family from Gallant playing bluegrass music and the Unbrokens from Gadsden.
One church member said it was the pastor’s idea to come up with the 12 different tribes to raise money.
She said she may be with the Tribe of Joseph, but she would also help out the other tribes.
“We are all doing this for one reason, and we want to honor God in doing this,” she said. “We hope to make this an annual tradition.”
