Springville 8-year-old All-Stars win district, finish runner-up in area, qualify for state

The Springville Tiger 8-year-old All-Star baseball team is headed to the state tournament in Cullman that will be played July 6-9.

This past Monday, the Tigers finished second in the area tournament that was played at Odenville. They were upended by Chelsea 10-6 in the championship game.

This group of young Tigers won the Trussville Preseason Tournament, and the recent District Tournament and moved on to the area tournament.

In the area tournament, Springville went 4-2. They started the tournament with a 17-11 victory over Montevallo last Friday.

On Saturday, they lost to Vincent 12-10 moving them to the loser’s bracket. They fought back to defeat the St. Clair Saints 21-17 to stay alive.

On Sunday, Springville won both games, putting them in the championship round against Chelsea. They defeated Montevallo 6-5 and Vincent 7-4.

St. Clair and Ragland

At the district tournament that Springville won, St. Clair finished second while Ragland came in third.

In the area tournament, the Saints defeated Irondale, but lost to Chelsea and Springville, the two teams that finished one-two in the tournament.

Ragland played two games and lost both. They lost to Vincent 26-12 on Friday, and Montevallo 8-0 on Saturday.
