Letter: Don't want to pay occupational tax? Work elsewhere

Let me just voice the opinion of a person who lives, works, and pays taxes in Jefferson County: if people in other counties don’t want to pay taxes to work here, then they need to work in the county in which they live.

Then they will see how they can pay for their houses, vehicles, and the education of their children. If Rep. Randy Wood’s people don’t want to pay taxes in Jefferson County then his people need to grow his county and make the same money in his county.

In fact, I can guarantee you that there are enough laid off people who live in Jefferson County (and some who are not laid off) who are more than willing to work those jobs so his people will not have the burden of paying an occupation tax.
