With their triumph last week at the Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Complex, the Ashville Middle School archery team claimed yet another state championship. In a few weeks they will head to Kentucky, again, to compete for a national championship. Another one.
This time their peers from within the county will be joining them. Their high school brethren finished second to Alma Bryant, and the program from Pell City High will make the trip to nationals as well, with a fifth-place finish. The brand-new program at Moody qualified as well, though it will not make the trip.
It is good to see other schools following Ashville’s lead. We commend them for leading the way, and the other schools in the county for following close behind.
