Moody won its first five games of the season before losing to Vestavia Hills in the next game at a tournament at Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa.
After a regular season win over White Plains, Moody went 2-1 in the Spain Park Jaguar Classic, losing to Sumiton Christian, but getting sweet revenge against Vestavia Hills.
This past Monday, Moody easily defeated Center Point 15-0.
Moody 8, Calera 0
In the first game of the season, the Lady Blue Devils defeated Calera 8-0. Meagan Young, 1-0, tossed a complete game one-hit shutout in five innings. She struck out 11.
Moody scored three runs in the second inning, two runs in the third inning, and three more runs in the fourth inning.
Alexis Moore hit two solo home runs while Madison Dunn added a two-run homer.
Moody 8, Tuscaloosa County 4 Jessica Stone picked up her first win of the season as Moody defeated Tuscaloosa County 8-4. Stone worked five innings and gave up four runs on six hits. Only one of the runs was earned. She struck out six and walked one.
Moore hit her third solo home run of the season while Dunn had two hits, two RBIs and one run scored. Candice Crutchfield had two hits and scored two runs while Taylor Wagnon was a perfect 2-for-2 with one run scored. Also, in her very first at-bat at the varsity level, Ashton Clem had a two-run double in the first inning.
Moody 9, Bibb County 1
The Lady Blue Devils improved to 3-0 on the season with a 9-1 win over Bibb County. Victoria Lewis, 1-0, picked up the win in relief of Katie Brown.
Brown worked the first two innings and gave up one run on two hits. She struck out two and walked two.
Lewis worked the final four innings and tossed a five-hitter. She struck out two.
The two pitchers did some damage at the plate as well, as Brown had two hits and two RBIs while Lewis also had two hits, scored twice and had one RBI. Tyler Stephenson had two hits.
Moody 2, Demopolis 1
Haley Fulmer picked up the win for Moody as she tossed a complete game two-hitter in five innings as the Lady Blue Devils defeated Demopolis 2-1. Fulmer, 1-0, struck out eight and walked four.
Moody scored single runs in the third and fourth innings
Scored 1 in the third and 1 in the fourth
Moody had only two hits with Lewis driving in the winning run in the fourth inning scoring Payton Swisher.
Moody 10, ACA 0
Young tossed a four-inning perfect game in the 10-0 win over American Christian Academy. Young, 2-0, struck out the first 10 batters she faced.
The Lady Blue Devils scored six runs in the first inning. The key hit in the inning was a bases-clearing double by Tyler Stephenson.
Wagnon had a RBI double while Moore had two hits and a RBI double. Dunn collected two hits.
Vestavia Hills 4, Moody 1
The first loss of the season for Moody came at the hands of Vestavia Hills, 4-1 in extra innings.
The two teams were tied 1-1 through six innings. Moody loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth inning with no outs, but could not score.
Vestavia Hills scored three runs in the seventh inning to win the game 4-1.
Stone, 1-1, suffered the loss as she gave up four runs on six hits. Only one of the runs was earned. She struck out six.
Brown and Dunn had two hits each.
Moody 6, White Plains 0
Young continued her early season success as she improved to 3-0 with a two-hit 6-0 shutout over White Plains. She struck out 16, and now has 37 strikeouts in her first three games and no walks.
Moody scored all six runs in the third inning. Young had a two-run triple while Crutchfield had a two-run double. Dunn added two hits while Kayla Stephenson had a double.
Moody 8, Hewitt-Trussville 3
In the opening round of the Spain Park Jaguar Classic, the Lady Blue Devils defeated Hewitt-Trussville 8-3.
Lewis, 2-0, picked up the win while Haley Fulmer earned her first save of the season. Lewis worked the first three innings, and gave up two runs, with only one being earned. Fulmer worked the final two innings and gave up one run. Fulmer also added a two-run double.
Stone got things started for Moody in the first inning as she blasted a three-run home run. Alexis Martin and Wagnon added doubles and both scored runs.
Moody 4, Vestavia Hills 0
The Lady Blue Devils got a little bit of revenge against Vestavia Hills, beating them 4-0. Vestavia Hills handed Moody its first loss of the season the weekend before.
Lewis set the tone for the game as she led off with a solo home run. She finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Crutchfield and Stone had one hit each, and each scored a run.
Young, 4-0, remained perfect with a two-hit shutout over five innings. She struck out four and walked one, her first walk of the season.
Sumiton Christian 3, Moody 2
Moody suffered its second loss of the season Saturday, a 3-2 setback against Sumiton Christian. Young suffered the loss. She worked four innings, giving up two runs on five hits. She struck out 10, giving her 51 for the year, and walked only one.
Stone worked one inning in relief and gave up an unearned run.
Moody scored both of its runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Kayla Stephenson and Lewis had back-to-back singles followed by a run-scoring single by Crutchfield. Stone walked to load the bases with no one out. Brown followed with a RBI on a fielder’s choice, but the next two Moody batters flied to centerfield to end the game.
Moody 15, Center Point 0
The Lady Blue Devils scored 15 runs in the first inning and easily defeated Center Point 15-0 in three innings.
Lewis, 3-0, tossed a perfect game, retiring all nine batters she faced, including striking out eight.
Lewis was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, including a triple and drove in two runs. She scored two also. Dunn, Wagnon and Sarah Crutchfield all had two-run singles.
