Continued work on Interstate 20 will cause lane closures tonight, according to a release from the Alabama Department of Transportation.

Weather permitting, the outside westbound lane of I-20 will be closed between mile markers 147 and 149 on Tuesday, from 6:30 p.m.-midnight, to reset a temporary concrete barrier.

This work is part of the ALDOT’s “Progress 20” project to widen the last four-lane segment of I-20 in St. Clair County.

A reduced speed limit of 45 mph is in effect throughout the work zone. Motorists are urged to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work-zone speed limits and other work-zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. State troopers will control traffic and strictly enforce speed limits.
