The St. Clair County High School Class of 1961 recently held its 50th Class reunion at the Odenville Senior Citizen Center. There were a total of 34 members in the Class of 1961. The reunion was organized by class members Paulette Gilchrist, Joe Hawkins and Peggy Cornwell. The class was honored to have its senior sponsor present, Mr. LaRue Bass. He and his wife, Oris, came from Fuquay-Varina, NC. The class annual sponsor, Mrs. Joyce Johnson, was also present. She and her husband, Bobby, came in from Jacksonville, AL. Pictured, from left, are Douglas Dungan, Mary Elizabeth Chasteen Little, Wayne Hare, Donald Dungan, Gene Barker, Denton Hudgins, Victor McGuire, Peggy Maples Cornwell, Joe Hawkins, Paulette Washington Gilchrist, Martha Carmack Baggett, Billy Murphree, Jennie Sue Nolan Rodgers, Joyce Wages Sullivan, Wayne Crow, Nancy Peoples Myers, Billie Ann Bush Segler and Earlene Surles Patterson. Nine members of the class are deceased. They are Linda Allison, Willard Cole, Cantrell Colley, James Hess, Sue Layton White, Joan Myers, Jack Roberts, Mary Shirley Aderholt and Stevie Thompson. After a delicious buffet meal, the group toured the Fortson Museum in Odenville.
