The Springville Tigers ended the 2011 football season with a 28-7 win over Arab, sending the senior players out on a winning note.

The win was especially nice as the Tigers celebrated Homecoming.

Shawn Gipson scored three touchdowns for the Tigers. The first score by Gipson was a 65-yard touchdown run to make it 7-0. Gipson scored on an 8-yard run and a 2-yard run to make the halftime score 21-7.

The only score of the second half was a 40-yard interception return by Brandon Felder to make the final score 28-7. Charlie Mueller made all four of the extra points.

Springville head coach Keith Maple said he was excited about finishing the season with a win.

“Overall, during the season, we were not consistent on offense or defense,” Maple said. “You want to be successful and in order to do that, you have to be consistent. We would have a bad game, then a good game. We played down and then play up. We would have a good week of practice, and then go lay an egg for no rhyme or reason.

“We have to be ready to play every Friday.”

Springville finished the year with a 5-5 record.
