Two Pell City men were arrested Friday night charged with selling alcohol on Sundays.

Pell City Police Cpl. Richard Woods said the two men are charged with selling alcohol on Sunday and possession of alcohol with intent to resale, both misdemeanor offenses.

“This is the second time both men have been arrested for the same charges within the past year,” Woods said.

He said both men pleaded guilty to the same offenses in October 2010.

The operation was a joint effort between the Pell City Police Department, the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department and the Alabama Alcohol Beverage Control Board.

Officials said the equivalent of approximately 600 12-ounce beers was seized from one of the men arrested, as well as an assortment of liquor.

Woods said the sale of alcohol on Sunday is becoming more prevalent.

He said a third man was arrested Thursday for selling alcohol on Sunday at a local business.

“I want to thank both the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department and the State ABC Board for their assistance,” Woods said.
