Work on Interstate 20 in St. Clair County will cause more delays tonight.

According to a release from the Alabama Department of Transportation, state troopers will conduct rolling roadblocks for blasting between Exits 147-153 tonight from 7-7:10 in the eastbound lanes and from 7-7:20 p.m. in the westbound lanes.

The blasting is part of ALDOT’s “Progress 20” project to widen the last four-lane segment of I-20 in St. Clair County. The scheduled completion date on the project is Oct. 1, 2012.

A reduced speed limit of 45 mph is in effect throughout the work zone. Motorists are urged to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work-zone speed limits and other work-zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. State troopers will control traffic and strictly enforce speed limits.

Additional information is available online at www.progress20.com or by phone at 866-888-0822. Motorists may also sign up for e-mail alerts by replying to esteinbaum@mpf.com.
