Ongoing construction on Interstate 20 in St. Clair County will cause more delays next week, according to a release from the Alabama Department of Transportation.

Weather permitting, the inside lanes of I-20 eastbound and westbound between mile markers 152 and 153 will be closed Monday, April 25, from 7 p.m. until approximately 5 a.m., Tuesday, April 26, to set bridge girders at the Cook Springs Bridge.

The lanes will close again at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, until approximately 5 a.m., Wednesday, April 27.

The work is part of the ALDOT’s Progress 20 project to widen the last four-lane segment of I-20 in St. Clair County.

The scheduled completion date on the project is Oct. 1, 2012.

A reduced speed limit of 45 mph is in effect throughout the work zone.

The release says that motorists are “urged to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work-zone speed limits and other work-zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area.

State troopers will control traffic and strictly enforce speed limits. “
