Tammy Jones wrote it and sent it to us, wondering if we could find a way to print it. After reading it, we had no choice and no question about publishing it — the story is that compelling.
It is the life story of Jones’ brother, Tony Cluck, who battled cystic fibrosis for all of his 39 years. Defying all odds and doctors’ predictions, he grew up all boy, married, worked, parented and served as a role model and friend to those who knew him best.
Tony’s story will make you cry. And it will make you smile. And it just might entice you to do something more — the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is raising money in a walk at Birmingham-Veterans Park May 14, and Team Tony needs donors and walkers.
As you read Tony’s story, take a deep, thankful breath and remember that such an act was beyond Tony’s ability for most of his life.
