Springville 46, Moody 24
The Lady Tigers had no problem beating Moody 46-24. Springville was up 12-5 after the first quarter and 27-9 at halftime.
By the end of the third quarter, Springville’s lead was 36-19. The final score was 46-24.
Ashley Shaw and Audrey House led Springville with 9 points each. Dixie Rhodes scored 8 points and led the Lady Tigers in rebounding with nine. Molly Lindsey scored 7 points.
Springville 46, Douglas 43
It was all Douglas the first half and all Springville the second half. The second half won out as the Lady Tigers edged eighth-ranked Douglas 46-43.
Douglas led 16-5 after the first quarter and increased the lead to 32-14 at halftime.
Springville was a different team in the second half as they dominated and ended the game on a 21-3 run to win the game 46-43.
Coach Warren House called it the best half of basketball his girls have played all season.
Lindsey scored 14 points, while Shaw added 10 points and led the team in rebounds with seven. House scored 6 points, while Ronderos netted 5 points.
Ashville 54, Springville 30
The Springville winning streak came to a close as they lost to Ashville 54-30.
The Lady Bulldogs were up 12-8 after one quarter of play and 19-14 at intermission.
Ashville won the scoring battle also in the second half, 35-16 and went on to win 54-30.
Leading Springville were Lindsey and Shaw with 9 points each. House added 7 points.
House said after the huge win over Douglas, it was disappointing to see his girls come out and play with so little energy.
“Ashville shot the ball well and we did not,” House said.
With the loss, Springville dropped to 4-8 overall.
Etowah 58, Springville 44
The Lady Tigers fell to Etowah 58-44. It was 8-6 Etowah after the first quarter, but Springville won the scoring battle in the second frame 12-9 to make the halftime score 18-17 Springville.
Etowah doubled up the Lady Tigers 14-7 in the third stanza to make it 31-25, and Etowah went on to win 58-44.
Shaw was Springville’s leading scorer with 19 points. Rhodes scored 7 points, while Ronderos and House netted 6 points each. Kolyn Kyser scored 3 points, while Geri Wilson totaled 2 points. Kelsey Riker added 1 point.
Pell City 34, Springville 33
Springville lost in the opening round of the Christmas Classic to Pell City 34-33. The Lady Panthers were up 6-4 after the first quarter, but Springville outscored Pell City 9-4 in the second quarter to take a13-10 halftime lead.
The game continued to be close throughout the second half, and Pell City held on to edge Springville 34-33.
Lindsey led Springville with 11 points. Rhodes netted 7 points, while House added 6 points. Shaw contributed 5 points, while Hannah Long had 3 points. Wilson had 1 point.
“When you shoot only 17 percent from the field, you are not going to win,” House said.
