Congratulations are in order for the Pell City School System Transportation Department’s recent state inspection that showed “zero deficiencies” and no non-compliance ratings.

What that means is that the buses trundling around Pell City transporting students to city schools are safe. They are properly maintained, and all the systems, from brakes to lights to transmissions to doors and windows, work properly.

When you consider the precious cargo those buses transport each day, it is imperative that they be in top-notch shape. And they are.

This type of performance is not the norm statewide. Across Alabama in 2009, the average for major deficiencies was 3.5 percent. That means Pell City is way ahead of the curve in this vitally important facet of transporting students.

Hats off!
