Lady Purple Devils beat Ashville

The Ragland Lady Purple Devils are preparing for a run in the state playoffs and recently they defeated Ashville twice, Jacksonville and Jacksonville Christian.

Ragland 3, Ashville 2

Kendal Poe, Andrea Bean and Emily Church had two hits each as the Lady Purple Devils defeated Ashville 3-2 recently. Ragland scored two runs in the first inning and scored the winning run in the fourth inning.

Madison Oliver had a hit while Kristen Alexander also had a hit and a stolen base.

Poe pitched a complete game and gave up only two runs while striking out four.

Ragland 10, Jacksonville 0

Poe continued to have success at the plate as she had two hits and drove in five runs in the 10-0 win over Jacksonville.

Lauren Wright and Reagan Campbell also had two each while Rachel Cathers added one hit.

Poe pitched four innings and gave up two hits and struck out four. Wright pitched the final inning and struck out one.

Ragland 15, Jacksonville Christian 0

Ragland coach Matthew Jackson said it was a huge win over a ranked opponent as the Lady Purple Devils took care of JCA 15-0.

Bean had three hits including a home run and drove in four runs to lead Ragland. Church had a single, double and triple, scored twice and drove in two while Campbell was 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Oliver also had three hits and drove in a run while scoring one.

Poe pitched two-hit ball over seven innings and struck out eight.

Ragland 8, Ashville 3

The winning streak continued as the Lady Purple Devils defeated Ashville 8-3. Oliver had three hits, scored two runs and drove in one run. Bean, Alexander and Church all had two hits each and drove in one run each.

Poe gave up three runs in seven innings. She walked one and struck out four.

Jackson said the girls are continuing to play well together as a team.
