The Moody Lady Blue Devils are 19-9-1 on the season as they get set to host the upcoming area tournament May 1-2.They recently defeated Talladega and Homewood before losing to Clay-Chalkville.
Moody 11, Talladega 2
The Lady Blue Devils scored four runs in the first inning and went on to beat Talladega 11-2. Lauren Gilmer had a solo home run, double and single and drove in three runs. Katie Brown had two hits, scored twice and drove in two runs while Hannah Jaudon and Lea Crutchfield had two hits and one RBI each.
Meagan Young pitched the first four innings and picked up the win to improve to 2-1 on the season. She gave up one hit and struck out five. Brown worked the final three innings and gave up two runs on two hits. She struck out five.
Moody 3, Homewood 2
Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Lady Blue Devils scored twice to tie the game and then won it in the eighth inning 3-2.
Mary Beth Harrison’s double tied the game 2-2 and then Ashley Epperson singled in the eighth to win the game for Moody.
Molly Washington picked up the win and improved to 12-6 on the season. She went eight innings and gave up two runs on four hits and struck out 12.
Clay-Chalkville 4, Moody 1
The Lady Blue Devils lost to Clay-Chalkville 4-1 although Moody out-hit the Lady Cougars eight to five.
Washington tossed a complete game giving up four runs on five hits. She struck out 10. She was also 3-for-3 at the plate while Gilmer had two doubles.
Crutchfield doubled in the sixth inning and scored on a single by Nikki Palmer.
