The Moody Lady Blue Devils are now 17-8-1 on the season. Recently they defeated Gardendale, Talladega and Hillcrest but also lost to Gardendale and Corner.

Moody 3, Gardendale 2

Jordan Young’s RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning proved to be the winning run as the Lady Blue Devils edged Gardendale 3-2.

Moody opened the scoring in the first inning when Caroline Clark walked with the bases loaded to make it 1-0.

Hannah Jaudon’s solo home run in the third inning made it 2-0 before Young’s game-winning hit in the sixth inning.

Gardendale scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to make it interesting.

Molly Washington (9-4-1) tossed a complete game. She gave up two runs on five hits, walked two and struck out five.

Moody 10, Talladega 0

A six-run sixth inning was more than enough for the Lady Blue Devils to beat Talladega 10-0 in six innings. Moody pounded Talladega pitchers for 11 hits and leading the way was Niki Palmer with two hits and four RBIs. Palmer had a sacrifice fly in the first inning, a RBI double in the third inning and a two-run double in the sixth inning.

Young and Clark also had two hits and drove in two runs each while Shelbi Bush and Mary Beth Harrison had run-scoring hits.

Washington picked up her 10th win of the season as she pitched a two-hit shutout. She struck out 10.

Corner 2, Moody 1

Moody took a 1-0 lead in the second inning but lost to Corner 2-1 in eight innings. Clark and Lauren Gilmer had two hits each while Lea Crutchfield scored the lone run for Moody.

Washington gave up two runs on nine hits in defeat. She walked four and struck out six. She also added a double at the plate.

Gardendale 4, Moody 0

After beating the Lady Rockets 3-2 a few days earlier, Moody lost to Gardendale 4-0 in eight innings. The game was tied 0-0 after seven innings of regulation play. Gardendale scored all four runs in the top of the eighth inning.

Moody managed only two hits, singles by Palmer and Mary Beth Harrison.

Washington went eight innings and gave up four runs on four hits. She walked two and struck out nine.
