Lady Tigers dominating at plate and on mound

Talk about dominance. The Springville Lady Tigers are 5-0 in the past five games and have outscored their opponents 48-1. They are currently 24-9 on the season.

Springville 14, Ashville 0

Everyone contributed as the Lady Tigers collected 17 hits and shut out Ashville 14-0. Savanna Hennings, 18-8, tossed another no-hitter and struck out 12. In the third inning, Hennings picked up career strikeout 1,000.

Katelyn Tribble collected three hits and drove in one run, while Haley Garrison, Rianna Wilson and Lauren Beason all had two hits, scored two runs and drove in two runs each. Hennings also had a hit and drove in two runs.

Other Springville players collecting hits, scoring runs and driving in runs included Kelsie Ray, Taylor Earley, Tanner Earley, Kirsten Gipson, Brittany Burgett, McKinley Tribble, Sydne Waldrop and Mallory Waldrop.

Springville 14, Gadsden City 0

Three Springville pitchers combined to toss a one-hit shut out over Gadsden City 14-0.

Hennings, Mallory Waldrop and McKinley Tribble shut down the Lady Titans, giving up three walks and striking out 11. Waldrop picked up the win to run her record to 1-1.

The Lady Tigers struck for 13 hits with Taylor Earley, Hennings, Burgett and Tanner Earley leading the way with two hits. Beason, Wilson, Katelyn Tribble, Brittany Jones and Ray all had hits.

Springville 9, Etowah 0

Hennings tossed a complete game two-hitter as the Lady Tigers defeated Etowah 9-0. Hennings struck out 14 as she improved to 19-8.

Beason, Hennings and Jones all had two hits, with Hennings driving in three runs. Jones, Gipson and Katelyn Tribble all drove in runs.

Springville 8, Glencoe 0

The hot bats and good pitching continued as the Lady Tigers upended Glencoe 8-0.

Springville hitters pounded out 11 hits, while Hennings gave up one hit and struck out 14.

Taylor Earley, Garrison and Burgett all had two hits.

Coach Chris Williams said his girls did well in all phases of the game during the weekend tournament.

Springville 3, Clay-Chalkville 1

Although she gave up a run in the 3-1 win over Clay-Chalkville, Hennings struck out an amazing 17 batters in seven innings of work, running her record to 21-8.

Hennings also had a two-run double at the plate. Beason and had a hit, stole a base and scored twice, while Burgett had a hit, and Taylor Earley drove in a run.
