St. Clair deputy dies of apparent heart attack

A St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department deputy died of an apparent heart attack while on duty Tuesday.

St. Clair County Coroner Dennis Russell said Raymond Garrison, 73, was found unresponsive in his patrol car in the New London area by a passerby. Garrison was transported by ambulance to St. Vincent’s St. Clair Hospital and pronounced dead at 12:21 p.m. of an apparent heart attack.

Garrison worked for the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department for more than 31 years.
