Jimmy Roberts, the incumbent commissioner for District 4, earned just over 53 percent of the vote (1,228 votes) in Tuesday’s runoff for the Republican nomination. Challenger Charles Isbell received 1,065 votes, or just over 46 percent.
“I appreciate the trust and support people have given me the last 18 years,” Roberts said Tuesday. “I will try my best to continue doing the job we have already started. It’s been a pleasure serving the public.”
Roberts and Isbell were the top two finishers in the March primary.
“I would like to thank all of my supporters for all the hard work they did on my behalf,” Isbell said. “I appreciate the voters who voted for me, and I appreciate those who did not vote for me. At least they all got out and voted.”
With no Democratic challenger qualifying to run, Roberts will retain the seat another four years. Commissioner Paul Manning also won his bid for reelection in the March primary, while commissioner Ken Crowe was unopposed.
“It’s been one of the toughest races I’ve been in,” Roberts said. “It was long and hard. I had a lot of good people helping me, and I appreciate them.”
