The month of May means something extra-special to the many high school seniors in St. Clair County who will cross the stage after their names are called, to receive their diplomas.

It is a moment that is the pinnacle of a four-year journey for them all, and a chance to move on to the next phase of their lives. One only need glance through this newspaper and see that their county, their state and their nation are all in desperate need of them as full citizens.

Maybe these graduates will not find cures for terminal illnesses or become the next great leaders of the free world. Or maybe they will. The potential to make this nation great lies before them.

And so, we at the St. Clair Times can only say to those who are graduating this spring, “Congratulations on a job well done.” We are happy for what you have become, and we look forward to what you will become in the near future.
