It’s a familiar ring: Ragland is playing for a state championship.
In the past few years, the Purple Devils have competed at the state level in football, girls basketball and softball, where they are the three-time defending 1A state champions.
The boys of the hardwood continued that tradition last week, winning the 1A Northeast regional at Jacksonville State University’s Pete Matthews Coliseum.
That sent them to the state’s biggest stage: the Birmingham Civic Center, where they defeated/fell to Brantley in the state semifinals.
Regardless of the outcome, Ragland has proven time and time again that its student-athletes are capable of great things, on and off the playing surface. Kudos.
