Andrew and Elizabeth Stanley registered through a fundraiser at Moody Elementary School last year.
Joanie Mardis with Seasons of Adventure said last year, they only had about two weeks from the idea of the fundraiser to the date of the drawing, but still raised $4000 for Moody Elementary School.
“We asked for donations to the school of $10 per entry,” Mardis said. “The children took home flyers and order forms to collect donations, and we also collected donations at the Moody Blue Devil Market Day.”
Mardis said the Stanley’s chose to take their family to Disney World for a week. Their trip was more than the prize amount so the first $1,000 was paid with the prize money and they paid the remaining balance.
“We were able to go for a week in mid-February,” Andrew Stanley said. “It meant a lot to take our two children. Seasons of Adventure gave us this chance that we otherwise would not have been able to do for them. This was a good opportunity to give them something they never had before.”
Mrs. Stanley said it was wonderful family time with lots of firsts for the children.
“This is so wonderful,” Mardis said. “We were so glad this family won. They are very deserving. Moody Elementary School and everyone else is honored this family won the vacation trip.”
“We kicked off this year’s fundraiser tonight in the elementary gym during its art show,” Mardis said. “We will take donations for one month, and hopefully, we will make as much money as last year, hopefully more.”
Donations are $10 each, and will get your name in the drawing for a chance to win the vacation giveaway.”
Mardis said flyers and order forms have already been sent home with the children to start collecting donations. The drawing for the winner will be held at the school on Thursday, April 19.
