Hopefuls can still qualify for Aug. election

Qualifying for municipal elections throughout St. Clair County has started.
 
Qualifying began July 3, and will end July 17. Every municipality in St. Clair County will be having races involving mayors and councils. 
 
Also, the Pell City Board of Education will have five board member seats up for grabs. 
 
Listed below are the qualifying fees for each municipality, and those who have qualified as of this past Tuesday.
 
Argo
$50 for mayor and council.
 
Mayor — Incumbent Paul Jennings.
 
Place 1 — Betty Bradley
 
Place 4 — Incumbent Herschel Phillips.
 
Place 5 — Incumbent William L. (Bill) Leake.
 
Ashville
$50 for mayor and council.
 
Mayor  — Mike Sheffield and incumbent Robert McKay.
 
Place 1 — Incumbent David Thompson.
 
Place 2 — Cliff Roberts
 
Place 3 — Howard Smith and Adam Abernathy.

Newly elected officials will take office the first Monday in November.
