For 27 years, Eleanor Clinkscales says she has been part of distributing food baskets for needy people in St. Clair County during the holidays.
These are no different. On Wednesday, Clinkscales and five others at Refuge Baptist Church stuffed 170 baskets, going to senior citizens and other needy people in the area.
“They are for whoever in our county is in need,” she said. “We have a lot of needy people.”
Clinkscales said 13 different churches participated with either money or food donations. She also said that “every mayor in the county” donated, along with many other civic organizations such as the St. Clair County Bar Association and the Masonic Lodge.
She thanked them all, as well as those who helped her Wednesday.
“I am not a one-woman show,” she said. “We all must have help to get these things done, and we need people who are willing to come and help.
“It’s been a tremendous year. And we’re all going to have a good Christmas, thanks to these items.”
