Continued work on Interstate 20 will cause more traffic issues, according to information from the Alabama Department of Transportation.

Beginning around 7 p.m. Wednesday, the eastbound outside lane near mile marker 152 and the westbound outside lane near mile marker 154 will be closed for placing barriers. A rolling roadblock by Alabama State Troopers will slow I-20 traffic in both directions until work is complete.

ALDOT said motorists “should expect slower traffic and minor delays” and should consider using alternative routes and adjusted arrival and departure times. A reduced speed limit of 45 mph is in effect throughout the work zone.

The work is part of ALDOT’s “Progress 20” project, to widen I-20 between Moody and Pell City. Additional information is available online at www.progress20.com or by phone at 866-888-0822. Travelers can also sign up for e-mail alerts by replying to kfolk@mpf.com.
