Sgt. Don Newton, the public information officer for the Pell City Police Department, said the account, “Staci J. Shaddix – FOB ‘For the benefit of’ Alan Shaddix,” was set up at Regions Bank to help with family expenses while the officer remains in a Georgia hospital.
Newton said Sgt. Shaddix was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident last Friday in Cartersville, Ga.
He said Shaddix was transported by helicopter from Cartersville to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, where the officer remains in stable condition.
“He’s doing real well today,” Newton said Tuesday. “He’s resting and breathing well.”
Newton said Shaddix would have to undergo additional surgeries because of his injuries.
He said Shaddix suffered numerous broken bones and internal injuries that doctors have addressed.
