It looks as though the area is a step closer to another major development in Leeds as officials from Leeds Commercial Development Authority, Daniel Corporation, U.S. Steel, the Cooperative District of the City of Leeds, Moody and St. Clair County met July 7 to sign a deal for what is known as the Grand River Project. The project includes major commercial and retail development in the area of Bass Pro Shops, and it should be a boon to Leeds and the surrounding area in the years ahead. This kind of development can serve as a gateway for future development along the Interstate 20 corridor, and we commend officials for working hard to bring it to fruition. The cooperation it took to bring a project of this magnitude to the area was impressive, and the region should reap rewards from it for a long time to come.
